The friend with the medical issues was posting some good links about taking action. One was being an escort at Planned Parenthood. I didn't see any volunteer opportunities near me at the moment but I plan to keep an eye on that.
Also, since DC is only a train ride away, if there's an important demonstration going on (there's a MIllion Women March planned in January worth considering), I'd do my best to participate or at least promote if I can't go.
I'm all about the local food pantry - I make sure to donate pet food too since people never think about that. I'm also already looking forward to going to Trader Joe's tomorrow since I had signed up for our adopt-a-family at work. The profile of the family is a single mom of SIX kids and it says she has to go to neighbors and friends to eat sometime since she doesn't have enough. I like to get quality food for donations rather than junk like ramen.
