My understanding is that statins are generally the "standard of care" and are prescribed for anyone diagnosed as diabetic, just because the risk factors for cardiac issues are higher for diabetics. That and B12, LOL

But see what your numbers look like, for sure!

On the up side - it sounds like your doctor is open to options other than "you should eat better and move more to lose weight" - which is encouraging! You might ask her about buproprion the next time you talk to her - it does double duty as a mood regulator/anxiety/depression thing, reduces fatigue/increases energy and an appetite suppressant and it's a generic so yay!
