A pleasant but heavy surprise

I did a curbside pickup at Target on July 22 and got two bags of litter since there was a small sale. I wasn't happy that the price of my litter was raised to $19 for a 15 pound bag but everything is more expensive nowadays. I'll just have to keep an eye out for sales.

Anyway, the bags have been sitting in the trunk since I haven't had the energy or non-wonky back to bring either of them in. Emily's niece will be coming in a few hours today and last time she had trouble trying to figure out how to open my trunk (it's old, it's getting fussy) so I thought since she will be making many trips out to the dumpster today and since my knees are somewhat improved, I'll bring in the litter.

I got a couple of bags with sturdy handles to put them in only to find out that one of them is a TWENTY-EIGHT pound bag. I scrounged in the car and found a bigger bag and very slowly and carefully drag-thumped the bag up to the apartment. The other 15 pound bag will continue to hang in the trunk for longer. I went to my Target order to check and nope, they charged me for just two 15 pound bags. Heck, I didn't even know that they sold the giant ones. But check the price difference! $23!

Guess I'm being rewarded for being a loyal customer. Huh.

That's a weird error to make - I mean - it's not like the person lifting them off the shelf didn't notice that one was TWICE as heavy as the other?

They probably ran out of the 15 pound ones and the guy didn't care either way. I'm SURE he knew since you can't mistake them.

He was also really nice and asked me stuff about kitties since he just got one.

ooh, SCORE. Litter has gone way up. I don't know what kind you use but it doesn't matter, litter has gone way up. This is nice!

Since the shelter used World's Best Cat Litter, that's what I stuck with. It costs more but it came in especially handy last year when I had to get JonJon's radioactive iodine treatment. The litter is flushable and safe for septic systems so I didn't have to store up a week's worth of irradiated litter pee hunks for weeks. I mostly throw it away now but it was good to have the alternative.

ravengirl worked at a bunch of cat shelters in Chicago and she recommended this same litter to me. I like the idea of knowing I could flush it, but I don't make a habit of it. Great stuff and so much better than that clay stuff...

It really does an excellent job with masking odor as well. Good stuff.

also not (too) dusty. And it's ground up corncobs so not hard on the environment.

sometimes Bonnie does that too. I keep a little broom and dustpan in the bathroom for quick cleanup.

Such silly kitties! I have the rubber litter catcher mats in front of the box but last night she went absolutely overboard. Fortunately today was when I had help and the bathroom rugs and floor are much better now.

She is actually pretty good but you know...tracking in and out of the litter box happens.

It does. Along with the box cleaning, I run one of my two vacuums ideally weekly and still get a lot of hair and litter dust.

I was so pleased when I came in that I didn't seem to notice a somewht musty smell that I had been noticing when I was coming in last week
