When you're grateful for even the half-assed AC

Emily and I drove to Ikea this morning after getting breakfast at a deli (they are redoing the cafe in Ikea, thankfully I spotted that beforehand). We knew the NJ Turnpike would be busy so we figured Rt 1 would be just as good even with the stop lights. The drive there was fine and we ambled slowly through the place, sitting down as needed. She gave me a handful of teeny tiny ducks to put around the place. Hehehe.

We stopped at the bistro after the checkout and I got a veggie dog (sadly it didn't come with all the fun toppings) and Emily got a hot dog and we each had a drink. She brought a cooler stocked with ice packs for any food that we bought which thank goodness we did because...

...her car AC isn't working AGAIN. She just got it "fixed" last year.

It was an absolutely miserable drive back and both of us are overheated. Thank goodness my AC units are doing ok at home though with it feeling like 100+ outside, it'll get pretty warm tonight. Also thankfully the package that arrived at 10am was put on the front porch that's covered since it had a few food items that would have melted into goo if left on the back porch in full sun.

The weekend is supposed to be even worse temperature-wise so aside from a couple of early morning trips to get necessities, I will be staying in and probably mostly in the bedroom where the AC works a bit better.

I had a friend once who had a Neon (remember them?) and she constantly had a problem with the a/c. She'd get it fixed and two weeks later...it'd go again. We made jokes about redneck a/c (roll down the windows and drive fast) but it was pretty miserable.

Difference in temps is the difference in where we are located. We still have the effect of Lake Ontario...at least until later on in the summer when the lake wanted is warmed by the hot temps. I hope you stay comfortable.

Ugh, no AC in the car is impossible in this heat. My car is literally in pieces in the detached garage. The dash completely pulled out, no front seats. The AC is technically working but the fan system and electrical in the dash is not working - and has not worked consistently in so many years. Last time I drove it the fans would not come on at all. They'd be cutting in and out, no being able to select a position - and I need it so it's not blowing cold air on my feet bc of arthritis.

What did you get at IKEA? I'm always curious, there's no IKEA close to us but everyone seems to get great things there. One of my friends bought bookcases for the room they turned into a library. Her husband did a decorative trim along the top and bottom, makes them look expensive.
