Emily and I drove to Ikea this morning after getting breakfast at a deli (they are redoing the cafe in Ikea, thankfully I spotted that beforehand). We knew the NJ Turnpike would be busy so we figured Rt 1 would be just as good even with the stop lights. The drive there was fine and we ambled slowly through the place, sitting down as needed. She gave me a handful of teeny tiny ducks to put around the place. Hehehe.
We stopped at the bistro after the checkout and I got a veggie dog (sadly it didn't come with all the fun toppings) and Emily got a hot dog and we each had a drink. She brought a cooler stocked with ice packs for any food that we bought which thank goodness we did because...
...her car AC isn't working AGAIN. She just got it "fixed" last year.
It was an absolutely miserable drive back and both of us are overheated. Thank goodness my AC units are doing ok at home though with it feeling like 100+ outside, it'll get pretty warm tonight. Also thankfully the package that arrived at 10am was put on the front porch that's covered since it had a few food items that would have melted into goo if left on the back porch in full sun.
The weekend is supposed to be even worse temperature-wise so aside from a couple of early morning trips to get necessities, I will be staying in and probably mostly in the bedroom where the AC works a bit better.

One of my friends bought bookcases for the room they turned into a library. Her husband did a decorative trim along the top and bottom, makes them look expensive.

Date: 22 Jun 2024 13:00 (UTC)We were both going for just small odds and ends at Ikea. Neither one of us ended up with the main items that we were hoping to find. She wanted a foam mattress topper to put on her Mom's old bed so she could sleep downstairs but they didn't have the one she wanted (so she ordered one from Target when she got home which hopefully comes soon and looks even better). I was hoping that they still had a few litter boxes on the shelves that didn't make inventory since they're not carrying them anymore. I'm BUMMED since they are skinny enough to fit in between my toilet and sink cabinet yet long enough. I still have three spare ones but I'll have to start auditioning other litterboxes that might fit
I also got a towel and some washcloths. I like their towels because there are strips of fabric where you can hang your towel better on a hook. I also got some different sizes of their plastic food bags, and a couple of plastic bins that can be held to tile with some sticky suction cups. I have the one up yesterday that I can put my toothbrush and stuff in which seems to be solidly there so I'm trying to decide whether to put the bigger bin in the shower or above the toilet for storage.
I am pissed that she double charged me for one of the bins and I think she dropped one of the items and then didn't give it to me which was this grater

I'm noticing being double charged more now and then at places after I get home and look at the receipt.
