Holiday humdrum

So what are your plans for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas?

So far I'll be flying solo on Thanksgiving and likely checking in on the neighbor's kitty. Christmas might likely be the same. Between being unable to get a kittysitter and not really having the money (or inclination, really) to travel, it'll be another year of nothing going. I should try to do something, at least so I'll have to ponder.

I've had some solo holidays and sometimes they can be rather restful. That's usually because I treat myself to a good meal and just do fun things I want to do like reading or knitting while watching a favorite film. At Thanksgiving, that's usually Big Eden or Elf and at Christmas I've got to watch some version of A Christmas Carol and The Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant, Loretta Young, and David Niven.

This year my best friend Marty is coming over for Thanksgiving. I'm vegetarian, so she'll bring her own turkey and dressing and has offered to bring a pumpkin pie. Me, I'll fix a cheese ball, mashed potatoes, green beans, deviled eggs, fruit salad or fried apples, and rolls. We usually watch the parade and the dog show.

Come Christmas, I'm blessed because my sister is off from work and is coming to visit for a week. Christmas eve is for just us and then my friend joins us on Christmas day. I cook a Christmas eve meal and my sister will cook a ham on Christmas day. I'll fix all the veggie sides and some kind of dessert, probably a jam cake.

My sister and I talk every day, but we usually only get to see one another twice a year. She lives in Georgia which is about 520 miles away. She doesn't mind driving and I hate it, so she usually comes here.

I hope you have a great holiday despite going solo.

I've been doing solo holidays for many years now and it's getting rather monotonous. Rutgers is closed from Xmas to New Years and most often times, friends have other plans. It's understandable, naturally, but I'd like to share some holiday cheer. Eh, will stop being broody - it's likely hormones since they're turned up to 11 at the moment.

Sounds like you and your buddy have a good plan and i hope you enjoy!

Well, as long as there's friends and family around, right? *snugglyhugs*

We will be having Thanksgiving with our friends, as has been our habit for many years and then on Saturday, the Boy and his SO are coming and we are doing Thanksgiving for them. It'll be a busy, but fun weekend.

No idea what we will be doing for Christmas. We have a quiet one, usually with just the two of us... and give cats. I'm wrapping dummy packages for under the tree so the kittens will have something to play in. We are closed the week between Christmas and New Years and I'm not hating the thought of that. Right now, I feel like I could sleep that entire week

Both options sound good to me!
