Stubborn little booger

Still haven't graduated from wound care yet. Yeah, really. Last week they'd hoped that this week would be THE week but nope. The fussy area is the width of a finger and not particularly deep but even with debridement and continuing to add in collagen and silver packing every other day isn't getting it to close completely.

So now we're going old school with something developed during WWI - something called Dakin's solution on a wet to dry application being changed twice daily. They were wondering if there was a stitch in the way but couldn't find anything so the next assumption is that there's some sort of bacterial issue keeping it from healing. I wouldn't be surprised if that short course of Cipro didn't do enough.

I feel bad having Emily help me with this. I really hope it works and we don't have to do it for more than a week. Next checkup is my weekly one next Monday.

I knew not to get my hopes up but I didn't expect this. Tired and depressed.

Just wondering, has hyperbaric therapy been discussed?

Not yet but I did wonder if they were going to consider it since they do that too at the wound care place I go. Last week she had thought for SURE that I was going to be done by this week but since it isn't, we're cranking things up.

Life is hard enough this time of year without all the stuff you've had going on. I hope this stuff helps or they find a solution that works!

At least we'll both be off work after tomorrow so while it'll be annoying, at least it won't be trying to juggle the change around getting ready to scuttle out to the commute. We both were a little nervous changing the dressing this morning since it's a new process but it went ok.

I wonder like with what nursesparky says above if they'll try hyperbaric therapy if this doesn't do the trick.

Also, I did at least chuckle that we're quite literally BLEACHING that area super clean.

Ugh, I hope the new treatment works. This has to be getting frustrating. Sending healing vibes for what it is worth.

Appreciate the vibes. I'm really hoping this works also because if it does, it'll mean that it's less me being a slow healer and more that there was some bacteria or something in there that my body is battling
