It was oddly busy for a Friday morning at the location where I got my ultrasound. It's good that I didn't have back to back appointments as I had to go home and change my shirt since she got the goopy gel all over the bottom of it. Ah well. It didn't stain but I didn't feel like walking around with a cold sticky shirt.

I gave the kitties some treats and pats and then headed out with the intention of having a leisurely lunch after fasting for the ultrasound with tons of time before my blood tests. I was driving along and got a feeling that I should check inside my purse and it's a good thing I did since I stupidly had taken the lab script out of my purse to neatly fold it and promptly left it on the kitchen counter. So I had to get turned around to drive back and get it. Traffic today is SO busy all over. I still had plenty of time to have a chill lunch but I am of the perpetually early and perpetually nervous so forgetting the paperwork made me annoyed with myself.

Lunch, however was amazing. I'd been wanting to try this place called Veggie Heaven that was in the same strip-mall lot as the Walgreens where I had my LabCorp appointment. It wasn't very busy with sit-down business but it did have a steady stream of folks coming in to pick up DoorDash orders which I was glad for them as a small struggling business. I ordered the lunch special of the garlic chicken as well as some appetizers of Japanese drumsticks that were recommended by someone on Yelp.Snip for Pics )

Honestly, unless someone told you everything was vegan, you'd not know. In fact even after tasting it you still might not believe them. The decor was so cute and the staff was wonderfully friendly. They bring you icy cold water infused with lemon. I will totally be back even if I'm not doing a vegan diet.

I finished in tons of time (as usual) and drove across the lot to park and check in to LabCorp on my phone. They must've been the one med place not busy as I got a response in a minute to come on in even though I was a good 25 minutes early. The stabbity stuff went fine for a change and I am now home and the adrenaline of the day along with the lack of caffeine has hit.

By the time I actually got in front of the judge, it was well into the afternoon and I was HURTING. I marked it on the questionnaire but the judge saw it pretty clearly and excused me. I probably would've been excused anyway because another one of the questions asked whether we knew the area and gave an address and it was in my town.

It was going to be a tough jury to fill since it involved sexual assault on a minor. I was called with a huge group of more than 80 people and near the end of the day, they had to call even more people. I didn't get to leave until after 4 and it had been a while since I experienced the gridlock traffic getting home. Emily didn't get a chance to roll by and give the kitties a treat so they were pretty hungry. They want more right now but I need them to pace themselves so I don't get any barfing.

On the bright side, lunch break was a little over an hour so I hobbled over to Noodle Is Calling and got their vegan pork belly ramen which was amazing. I hadn't been there in years and the last time was with my friend Lena who I lost to cancer several years ago. Miss her lots.

Going to stall the kitties a few minutes more then give them second dinner and hit the recliner to rest. I'm glad I brought a book which I managed to read nearly half of. Considering I haven't read in ages, that felt good. Going to send it to someone when I'm done if I like the whole thing.

This Nuts for Cheese stuff is aaaaamazing. I mentioned...I think...on Thanksgiving that I had their cashew "brie" (though the texture is far more like goat cheese and I certainly ain't mad at that). I ordered a couple more from FreshDirect and this time I tossed in the cheddar. I was a big nervous this morning since I didn't notice that it was "chipotle" and hoped it wasn't too spicy.

It wasn't overly spicy. But what the texture and taste reminded me of is something I used to love - welsh rarebit. In particular, the Stouffer's frozen version because let's get real, I'm a basic bitch.

Oh and Canadian veggie friends, check their handy dandy location thingie - they DO have it in Canada.

I've been enjoying these sourdough english muffins from Dam Good that I get from FreshDirect (and since I looked up their site, I see more flavors and am trying not to get tempted to order from them). I usually dislike english muffins they they always seem to be dry and bland but these are absolutely delicious.

I've been adding Impossible sausage on them that I fried up in batches of patties and then microwave for 40 seconds with a paper towel to soak up extra grease. This morning I took it a step further and put on a Just Egg patty.

Vegan McMuffin for the WIN. I am pleasantly full. And since I did my best to remove extra grease, it didn't feel too heavy.
