Seriously??
20 May 2022 12:35Our fabulous AA is retiring this month and she's placing a last ditch supply order. So we've requested some extra toner (that shit is expensive!). But what blew our minds is that the business office is holding up the order because they need a business justification to purchase a $7 manual simple calculator.
You have got to be kidding me.
I tossed together this fluffy gobbledygook for her to use:
Need for portable device for quick and easy cross-checking of accurate math while assisting faculty with budget calculations. Many times attempting to search for calculator function on computer is counter-productive for efficient and rapid computations while having multiple spreadsheets or documents open at the same time, per customary function of our research office.
She responded with
I’ll have you know I tweaked your justification just a smidge and submitted it!
I couldn't help replying:
Ah, so you added in "Are you EFFING serious?"
I would have also accepted "Due to tragic loss of pinkies due to freak accident, finger counting is no longer accurate" or "From the dawn of math, humans have used devices to more quickly calculate numbers. Since Office Depot does not appear to stock an abacus or slide rule, a calculator will have to suffice"
