missdiane: (Bitchslappin')
I took today off since my back was telling me that I'd better or it was going to do it for me. But I peeked in on email in the afternoon (didn't answer anything, I'm not stupid!). The temptation to call someone out on a lie was and is so very hard to resist.

I don't think I posted about the jerk director "Z" in the business office that's treated me like shit? Anyway, yesterday an email came to myself, Bosslady and someone at the central university reminding us about a $12K award that hasn't been drawn down and needs to be done by the end of the fiscal year. I don't do financials so I ignored it. Bosslady surprisingly actually paid attention to an email for once and forwarded Z about it. Now I had looked up the status prior to the email just for my own knowledge - and if Bosslady decided to try to involve me in the financials. Although an account was set up last September, nothing's been done to spend the funds. All that needs to be done is to pay the salary of one faculty member with the one project on this funding for about a month. I looked up his charging instructions and the last time anything was done was September...of 2021.

Anyway, Z, for some unknown reason decided to lie. She said "I believe it’s a timing issue with Grant Office not drawing the funds after we spend them. But we always make sure it’s spent before the end date." Uh...why did you lie to cover Lazy, Worthless, Idiot Business Guy's ass? Hell, you didn't even need to try to claim that the central university office hasn't done their job with that first sentence. All you had to say is something like "I'll make sure the funds are spent and drawn down."

I'm going to bite my tongue for now. But my annual review is mid-April and I'll be checking that account. And I'll likely tell Bosslady that she should probably ask for some detailed financials and projections on our funding since I don't think she's getting accurate information. If she asks why, I won't outright say that Z lied, but I will tell her that the money has never been spent and that it's not central delaying things. We'll see.

The other thing that I didn't mention yesterday was conversations had with my suitemates. Elaine's father retired from the University some years ago and at one time, had the job that Bosslady has now. He's well respected but it's relevant because Elaine's graduated from the University, has worked and known many, many people, partially due to her connections with her father. She knows a lot of the people on a personal level and she and her boss Joe chat about them a lot.

I've known about and met a few of them that have a roving eye for pretty younger women when they're one foot in the grave but holy CRAP did I have no idea about how many of these faculty dudes are straight up skeevy jackasses, having flings with students, making just inappropriate comments about women in general and just...UGH ABSOLUTE SCUM. Hell, I had to end up asking for examples of ones that WEREN'T creeps.

"Not all men" right? Well, seems it's one hell of a high percentage. Blecch.
