Phone killas
28 November 2023 08:22Sis got Dad moved over to the new place and also came back later in the day since some things were forgotten in his car (including Dad's address book) and she took him for a small trip to Target (he didn't get snacks which I told him to get, the doofus). He did get drinks at least since he doesn't hydrate enough and Sis got his keurig set up and brought over the tons of pods he has and got him creamer.

BIL got all cranky when Sis got home but at me because I'd mentioned sending things to him directly and he didn't want "more stuff they'll have to move later." Bud, I was talking about small consumable items, not the kind of stuff your WIFE just got him. But I mostly bit my tongue there. Yeah, he's tired from clearing and moving things but boy that dude sure can be bitchy.
It's too bad that Dad didn't get snacks since so far he's not impressed with the food or amount of it. Hopefully that's just a quirk since what I saw on their FB page looked pretty good to me. Tomorrow at 2 there's something called "The Mix - fall fruit treats" so hopefully it's something yummy. We'll also have to make sure that Dad has cash since I'm sure he's going to want to go on the lunch outings on Mondays. Today there's a community movie at 2 and then cards with friends at 4 so he'd better get in on at least one of those. The ladies have been welcoming him warmly (oh dear lol) but the guys not so much yet. I'm sure he'll get his dude gang soon, though. Sis already likes a couple of the ladies there and wants Dad to buddy up with Dorothy who is a gossip and has two Pomeranians.
Calling in and out isn't as convenient since Dad has to figure out how to dial "8" before calling and I have to ask for his room number when calling in to him. However, I couldn't seem to get through yesterday afternoon. I'd try the facility and it would ring and then dead air and then it would cut me off. Then that evening, Dad called me on his cell (which he said he didn't have the charger but according to Sis, she plugged it in next to a dresser and told him three times but I couldn't call him back since the ringer is still turned down. Anyway, he said he couldn't call me from his room which I assumed meant he couldn't figure out how to do the "8" but then I got a message from Sis that the entire facility's phones are out.
Ok, what the hell? Have we brought the curse of broken phones to ANOTHER facility? They never did get them fixed at the old one to be able to call patient rooms. Hopefully this place is quicker about getting things repaired which considering they have great ratings may be the case and since no one can call the facility at all which is a danger.
