Tink in the icon is representing me from a few hours ago when I got a PARKING TICKET in the mail. Thing is, I PAID FOR THE DAMNED PARKING and I have proof! It was on a Sunday when Emily and I went to lunch in downtown New Brunswick and I parked in the same garage that I had parked in for jury duty before that and I used the online thing and there's $4.40 charged on my credit card for the less than an hour that we were there (which by the way, they USED to not charge for parking at all on Sundays to encourage people to go to businesses downtown).
The ticket shows my car going in and out of the garage and charges me $52 for the privilege of fucking with me but you can't dispute it online and when you go to the New Brunswick Parking Authority site, all it says is that if you intend to plead not guilty, you have to call them to schedule a time to go to court (and pay for more parking downtown). But here's the real bullshit - they don't answer their phone so that you can either try to claim the ticket is invalid OR even schedule a court date so you'd have to go in person (and pay for MORE parking) to talk to someone to schedule a court date to pay for more parking to dispute the original fee. OH and if you don't pay it within 7 days, more fees.
It's obviously a fucking blatant money grab by the city. I really had no option but to go online and pay it - amaaaaazing that you can do THAT oh so conveniently, eh? Because I didn't want more fees or the chance of getting my car towed or anything sent to a collection agency even though they're wrong. Fuckers.
Well rest assured, I will not be parking downtown ever again. If I need/want to go there, I'll either take Uber/Lyft or they have a new citywide rideshare that's $3 per ride and guess what assholes, my workplace at the University is technically in the "city" so fuck all y'all.
