Haven't done any packing yet but the new place just needs SO much prep. Let's put it this way, our soon-to-be-regular cleaning person that Emily's sister hoped we'd keep employed is over deep cleaning the house and it took her over FIVE HOURS just to do the three bedrooms and one bathroom upstairs. No, she's not slow, not at all. It's that there were three teenagers up there and it was absolutely DISGUSTING. Millie seems super sweet and we're probably going to have her come every other week to help us out. Emily said that she folded little bows on the toilet paper upstairs. lol. But when I was there earlier, you could hear her going to town and she had her work cut out for her. Thankfully Emily's sister is paying for this, as she should.
To try to save her some work (so that the important stuff does get done), after I painted the inside of the metal medicine cabinet with oil-based primer, I went to work sweeping all the floors and baseboards and under the base heaters on the first floor, especially my bedroom. I had purchased a swiffer that you use for wood floors that has solution that squirts out and cleaned my bedroom flooring and it was CRUDDY. But now she really doesn't have to do anything in there. I tried cleaning the windows there the other day but the ones in back are double paned. Great for utility bills but sucks when somehow in between the panes, they get dirty. Well, they look better than they did when I got there.
Speaking of painting, I'm going to need to put out a call on the personals at work to see if I can hire anyone to paint my bedroom, the kitchen and maybe the bathroom. Because I can't paint for shit. I try, I really do, but I'm so godawful at it.
I ordered some stuff for the boy, another stainless steel litterbox from the TikTok shop (highly recommend them as the one I have is SO easy to clean), a cat tree and other odds and ends that will go straight to the new house. The trees I have here are more than ready to retire. I also ordered the ClosetMaid guts to replace the innards of the bedroom closet. Moving ain't cheap, especially if you're trying to make it an improvement.
Anyway, brain just went PLOINK so that's about it for now. All the hugs, not too tight back, I'm sore.
