This crawls up under my skin. We fail, or at least severely punish students who do this in school (making up quotes and attributing them to people who didn't say them can fall under academic dishonesty). Meanwhile, a man who wants to run for President of the United States of America, who holds office, thinks it appropriate to just make things up that suit him? Grrr.

With the exception of Jefferson and Adams, and maybe Obama, I don't think the intelligence standard was ever set very high, but still...
