missdiane: (HP Snape suspects bullshit)

That former coworker/friend that claimed to be a Bernie supporter but is now 100% crackpot right-wing, KILLARY-spouting nutball (dude, you were never a true Bernie supporter if you've done that freaky 180), continues to come closer to licking the boots of the alt-right. When he thanked some of his all-caps screaming Trumpster friends for ganging up on me when I was being respectful in online debate, I decided there was no way whatsoever I was going to make any comments or remarks on his political posts (or the idiotic ones growling that them thar brown people better STAND for teh ANTHEM or they're not UHMERICANS)

His wife decided to venture onto one of my posts to debate Hillary on an article I shared about how the media is hyperfocused on her health. I was fair and respectful, as were others that commented ([livejournal.com profile] caseytalk, thank you - that was so enlightening to find out the details about C/S/TS levels in email conversation). His wife was reasonable but exercised the tactic of when she was proven wrong on a point, would go off on a completely different tangent.

Anyway, I had to resist posting a remark like *SPORFLE* on this picture that the former coworker posted last evening
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That is quite possibly the most absurd, most ridiculous representation of Cheeto Jesus I've seen (oh and don't think I didn't notice that he was also photoshopped to almost look like a human color)

Former coworker is posting links to right wing sites like infowars and actually extolled the virtues of that conspiracy-theorist, Sandy Hook and 9/11 denier nutball Alex Jones. Yeah, he's pretty much gone fully to the Dark Side. Crazy.

This is one reason why I avoid Facebook and the like.

I admit to having been disillusioned with the two-party system for many years and voting for third-party candidates, sometimes just as a "protest" vote.

However, this year I am truly afraid of Trump and his followers. I have watched some of his speeches and am strongly reminded of a certain German political outsider who came to power in 1933 on a platform of scapegoating, nationalism, and appeals to fear and anger.

Trump ain't Hitler though, he's Kaiser Wilhelm.

Yes, personality fits, although I don't think we could ever get Trump to resign or abdicate.

The fact that Trump still won't denounce supporters like David Duke is so disturbing. And he has NO PLAN and no real comprehension of how government works. The support from reasonable people boggles my mind. Is Hillary the ideal candidate? Heck no. She wasn't my first choice. But it's going to come down to one of the two of them and even if you defer to the VP choices, Pence also scares the bejeebus out of me.

It is a shame that Bloomberg didn't do what he was pondering since if he had run third party, it would've been truly interesting and I honestly think he would have won.

It is very disturbing when a nation focuses on the health of one person over any other elements of a campaign. Two party systems suck. Trump is a monster whom the thuggery end of the populace seem to flock to.

What I don't understand is the friends that aren't thugs but still not only want to vote for him as the "Anti-Hillary" but are now - like my friend - posting crackpot memes and stuff. I mean WTF?

I don't engage in those debates anymore. I do post various information about the con job of T.

It's the rise of the neo-Nazis and Klan is scary enough. But his connections with Russia is even worse.

So, I just avoid looking at that crap and spend most of my time on FB just hiding a lot of stupid posts.

I unfollowed the friend and will ponder re-following him once election season is over...if he seems reasonable again.

I also told my Dad that I'd really like to stop playing his game of "Make Diane Defend Hillary" because it's tedious. He doesn't want to vote for either one of them but continues to dig up things to try to make me dispute it. It makes my head hurt.

Oh, I feel the same way. I'm pretty damn sick of politics right now. I know who I'm voting for and if the rest of the country votes that fucker T into office, well, they'll get the government they deserve while the rest of us suffer right along.

I'm still convinced that if enough people vote, we'll be okay, but I swear, watching the news is damn depressing.

OMG. WTF.

I wouldn't talk to him anymore. Seems reason is lost on him at this point.

And as a former Bernie supporter, I rather resent that he claims HE was...ugh. No. No. NO.

*HUGS*

I hope he returns to his senses after the election. It's bizarre since he never seemed like the type to go all tinfoil hat (though it's well known that his wife keeps him pretty well on a leash so it could be influenced there too). If he doesn't, I'll just fade away but it's a shame since he's otherwise a good buddy that I'd hate to lose. Clearly political talk will be strictly off the table if we meet up for lunch.

When Bernie conceded, he was pondering Jill Stein, which isn't a stretch I guess (though Jill...yeah, she's flaky). But then it's like he was possessed and dived head first into the Trump pool. Makes me wonder if they're putting something in the sacramental wine at his church.

Did you watch the town hall thing Matt Lauer hosted? All I kept saying during that was is Trump wearing a lot of makeup because he actually looked pale. Not normal skin color, but pale. It was so weird to not see his orange skin.

FB shows me a million pro-Trump/anti-Hillary posts and I just tend to scroll scroll scroll. Most are links to articles and I laugh at many of them but don't click through. I have one friend who is a Trump supporter that on occasion I will comment on because we are good friends in real life and I know we can actually discuss face to face anything but other than that I do not comment on political posts.
