So I was spazzing a bit as to what to wear for the virtual interview and whether to slap on makeup or such. I consulted with Emily since she tends to overdress for this sort of thing so if she thought what I picked passed muster, I knew I was good.

I did put on a nearly full face of makeup (without eyeshadow since EVERY single kind, no matter how hypoallergenic makes my lids swell up) and then washed off all the yucky foundation. I LOATHE that shit. Even after exfoliating in the morning and moisturizing all carefully, it still looks like flaky spackle and feels gross. I'm not wearing that stuff ever again. So I ended up with some waterproof mascara so you could tell I had eyelashes, a little concealer to somewhat mask the dark circles I always have, and some tinted lip gloss.

However, when everything was done and I was ready to wipe off the rest of the gunk, I realized that the eye makeup remover pads were bone dry. I had to google for ways to get the mascara off without losing half my lashes (answer: oil, so I had nice oily eyes after that)

I guess I should get a few fresh items. I rarely wear makeup but if I actually get another interview, I should be a bit more prepared. No foundation, though. That stuff went right in the trash. Blecch.

I hear you. Since my skin is the color of a dead fish's belly in the winter and only has a slightly darker tone when I have a "deep tan", I have never found any foundation that isn't noticeably darker than my hands and arms. Pretty much all makeup makes me itch. I really tried with mascara when I was younger, but it made my lashes stick together and look sparse and spiky unless I used a tiny special comb to separate them and I tried three different "lengthening brands that did not lengthen. I measured before and after with a dot of eye pencil, so it wasn't just me not seeing any difference. I figured if I have a line of black lashes before the mascara and a line of black lashes after the mascara and can't see any difference, then it wasn't worth the bother. (My glaucoma eye drops on the other hand have made my lashes longer. Not recommending getting glaucoma, but it is one consolation if you do get it.)

It's tough to apply mascara, I agree. I need one of those curlers as well but I took my time and I ended up not having it not look TOO much like spider legs.

If I get an in person interview, I will probably go get my eyebrows professionally threaded. Since I'd be wearing a mask, the eyes and what I wear are going to be the only real thing to give an impression

I never wear "full" makeup (b/c I have no idea how to do makeup) but I do wear mascara many days b/c I look more awake with it on. I stick with non-waterproof mascara, though, b/c I need it to come off with only water. The waterproof stuff is so hard to remove!!

I think I bought a bottle of foundation once...maybe in my late teens? I probably still have it somewhere, because I only wore it a few times, LOL.

I just never got into makeup - I tried eyeshadow, but it was always gone within an hour or two. Mascara bugs me, and my eyes water at the drop of a hat - so I'm constantly rubbing them and well, rubbing/watery eyes and mascara are a good combination only if you fancy looking like a raccoon, LOL.

Good thing I'm not trying to impress anyone :D

Aside from that - how did the interview go? I am SO hoping for good things for you!

Hello!

What was the interview for?

I only put on red (or dark pink) lip-gloss. It's the best effort/impact ratio I could find and is pretty effective from keeping my face from being washed out on screen. I never found a way for residue-free mascara removal. I'll try oil if I ever apply it again.

Wanna be friends?

Sorry for the delay, it's been hectic.

The interview is for a position where I'd be heading up a new group to monitor, track and promote student health, specifically immunization. It would be a switch from the research administration I'm doing now.

Friends are always good!

Yeah, I use coconut oil to remove makeup. But any oil that your skin likes will do.

I used to wear foundation daily because I believed my natural skin was gross. I only wear it when I want to look super polished but I've had no reason to do so these days so I don't even own foundation. Usually it's more trouble than its worth, But I have concealer for the under-eye circles and a few other things. I like to wear lipstick but with the mask there's no point.

I'm sure you looked very professional.
