Today's prompt
Jan. 2nd, 2023 09:25 amToday asks: What streaming service do you use the most?
I don't think I watch any of them all that much. Reminds me that I need to watch more Star Wars content on Disney+ before canceling that. Other than that, I don't think YouTube counts since I only subscribe to premium to get rid of commercials but I don't subscribe to YouTubeTV anymore.
It's interesting that I've gone without regular cable TV for several years now and don't miss it at all. What a waste of money it was.

Date: 2023-01-02 04:24 pm (UTC)With my roku stick, I figured out I can watch the local news when I'm eating dinner - which was really the big thing that was holding me back - not having access to local broadcast news.
The other thing that is holding me back is - right now I have tivo/dvr - everything is in one place. If something looks interesting, I tell tivo to record it and it shows up in the list. If I get rid of cable - then everything is in distinct locations - some shows are on hulu, some are on paramount+ some on disney+ some netflix, some on roku stick - and I'm going to have to work harder to a)remember which shows I want to watch, since they won't be just sitting in my queue, reminding me that I want to watch them and b) remember *where* to watch them.
That being said - I'm not going to hurt for content so it may work out fine - I just will watch whatever pops up and not really worry about keeping up with any particular shows.

Date: 2023-01-02 05:29 pm (UTC)My only other streaming service is Vudu which has no subscription and many shows are free with ads. (Mostly TV and old movies) You can rent the more recent movies for $1.99 - $3.99.
Local broadcast has been flaky since they switched to digital. I can always get CBS, often PBS, but get ABC and NBC only if the weather is clear and not windy. Since my antenna is indoors, I guess the weather affects the broadcast towers? Since I can get all the local news from their websites I'm not missing much, but am hoping my new indoor antenna will help.
