I have most definitely entered my petty bitch phase at work. But I'm painting a faux pleasant and professional façade over it.

People are playing power games and suddenly decided that the Federal reporting database that I inherited and have been curating for the University for the last TEN years and they've been aware of this is now a no no for me to do because....uh...reasons.

They got even more condescending when I tried to warn them that there were issues with the database and suggested a work around so the reports that USDA wants submitted ASAP can be submitted. I was told to just create accounts for people (that no one in that office has ever seen or used this database). So sure thing! My pleasure! I'll not only do that but I'll give you the permission to create more accounts and I'll just step aside altogether.

Oh but not before I deleted ALL of the data pending submission that I entered. I mean golly, I wasn't authorized to do the report so my data is all bad I'm sure. Have fun figuring things out and don't ask me.

Careful. Making life harder for the jerks is fun, but if they get into too much trouble, they may dump it back on you the last day for submission. (Maybe keep a backup for yourself?)

Oh I will not let them dump it back on me (yeah, I saved the data just in case). Part of the previous meeting where they were really nasty to me, the person that was condescending in this case kept insisting that the responsibility for submitting this report is Michael, the moron business person.

The only reason I even compiled the data this year is because 1)The feds split the submission for these reports into this database (competitive grants) and a spreadsheet (the land grant stuff that I legitimately oversee) and 2) I noticed he's been fucking up the numbers for years. But the fact that he's been fucking it up was dismissed by them so if they want someone in our offices to do it, hey, they insisted that it's his report, not mine so the people at the central University can work with him to figure it out. Nevermind that after submitting the report for about seven years, he had no idea that he was running reports on the competitive grants and he has no idea about the context. HAHAHAHAHAHA

I haven't heard anything from anyone yet so I looked in the system and nothing's been changed or submitted. Only a matter of time before SOMEONE says something. hehehe

About the only thing that might happen is that the USDA business office might start reaching out to grantees warning them if the report isn't submitted that they'll ask for the funding back. If that happens, I'm sure someone will pester me and ask what's going on and I'll just shrug and tell them that per the (condescending and overpaid) new Director of our business office, the responsibility for these reports have been passed to the central University offices so perhaps ask them when they intend to complete and submit the reports.
