Since I have to go into the doctor's office now several times a week, I was feeling bad about having Emily drive me and have to take off work to do so. So yesterday morning I did a test run to see if I can drive and took my car to Valvoline for its first oil change. I was tired but it went fine and the car is very happy. Yes, I know I can get free oil changes for some amount of time since it's a new car but it's a pain in the ass to have to drop the car off and pick it up later since they are always entirely too busy to wait for it. Also, if they're anything like the Nissan dealer, they try to convince you to get things you don't need. My guys at the drive-up Valvoline treated my previous car well so I'd rather pay the money to them.
Anyway, since that went well enough, I'll be driving myself to the doctor this afternoon for my wound packing change. I'm sure when I get back from that, I'll need an extended rest but aside from giving the boy a snack, that's all I plan to do when I get back.
Here I thought I'd be going back to work earlier than expected but clearly THAT ain't going to happen. Then again since the government is still shut down, parts of my job are rather limited as it is anyway. So I'll keep taking care of me as best I can.
I was hoping at some point that I'd be allowed to go back to the pool at the Y but that's going to be even longer before that can happen. Ah well.
In other random news, I donated to WBGO public radio. I've been listening to it since I got my car and the jazz reminds me of Dad so it makes me feel warm and fuzzy to help them.

On Monday the doctor packed SO MUCH GAUZE in me that I was uncomfortable. I'm going to voice that this afternoon. Also kind of sad that I bring my own bandaging supplies since theirs is ridiculous. It's like strapping a thick diaper to the front of me.
