So cruising across bits of the social media internetz, I kept seeing articles and links to this risque video by a gal named Janelle Monae (pardon not using the keyboard hacks to insert the accent marks).
Why yes, that is the visual you think. They are called "pussypants" and yes, the video is likely NSFW because of the not-so-veiled hints. I actually like the vocals but what struck me was looking at her it dawned on me that hey...that's the sassy engineer from the movie Hidden Figures. Which BTW, if you haven't watched that movie, do. It's fabulous. So then I wondered if it was an actress trying to become a singer and looking her up...oops, other way around and she's been in the music business for YEARS and even Prince was a big fan and worked with her. Watch her video for Make Me Feel and you'll see and hear the Prince homage in that song.
Then I stumbled on this song and was all "2010? Have I been in a cave or something? I thought I was up on some of the popular artists!"
I'll have to say, she's aged fantastically. Very much enjoying listening and viewing an artist that snuck past my radar.
