Kitty Deployed!
1 August 2022 14:00I caught JonJon off guard while he was relaxing with me so the deposit into the kitty carrier went smoothly. He started yowling loudly as we were going down the stairs but all in all, he was a very good boy for the 45 minute drive to NorthStar Vets and a quiet, good boy during his screening.
I had my consult with them and waited while they did the echocardiogram and crossed fingers. Fortunately he passed with flying colors so I was able to leave him and food and treats that I gave them for five days. They didn't allow any blankets or toys to be left but evidently he'll have his own lead-lined room that has a window that looks outdoors and his own kitty tree. State mandate requires a minimum 72 hour stay and it also depends on when his radiation gets to a certain leven AND when his thyroid level is regular so it could be more depending on how that goes. If all goes well, I'm planning on fetching him Saturday morning.
I do have the option of boarding him for the full two week time of required precautions with things like making sure the kitties don't snuggle (yeah, that's SO not going to be a problem lol) and to dispose of litter certain ways. I don't have to make that decision now but it's tempting since the estimate (that I paid half of today) is $1000 less than what I was told by my vet. Also tempting to split the difference and have him boarded a week if not the two weeks. The reason why it's tempting is that I'm hoping once his levels get to normal, he'll start to yowl and wake me up constantly and spat with the girl less. That and get on a better feeding schedule. They also could prescribe some gabapentin when they discharge him since they are going to give that to him during his required quarantine. I'd not given him gabapentin before since I wasn't sure how he'd be on it. It might help while I wait for his poor brains to get down to his regular doofus levels.
But right now I'm back home with a slightly achy back from the drive and they'll give me a call once he gets his radioactive treatment. JuneBug seems very unbothered at his absence but she'd better not get used to it. LOL
On a different note, who else is having issues when responding to comments that you click to send and it does nothing but if you check, your response is posted? Is there a fix for that?
