I was getting antsy and needed to get out of the apartment for a little while so I ran some errands and also did some retail therapy. I needed cash and gas in my car so I did both of those. Then I drove out to Wegmans where I haven't been in years. I went once early in the pandemic and it was very stressful so I didn't go back and I've been staying very close to home for the longest while. But I thought a weekday morning would be ok.
The drive was unusually busy but the store itself was just fine. I'd forgotten how good their regular ol' brewed coffee is so I got one and hobbled slowly around the store. I spent more than I'd anticipated but there were actually several non-food items that I was needing that were an ok price (such as a new cord for my iPhone/iPad). I'm going to miss chatting to Mom about what I bought. She was always excited to hear about it. I spotted and had to buy one thing that was one of her favorite things that isn't always easy to find. It's a braided Armenian cheese with black nigella seeds.
Dad's back at the facility where he feels safest right now. The staff has been so awesome to both of them and even though Mom wasn't there long, they were very upset that she's not around anymore. Sis and BIL have cleaned and labeled his clothes (including some new stuff from Lands End that I sent since he needs smaller sizes and drawstring waists). There was some confusion where they were thinking it might be best to fly him to Texas to the brother but I helped Dad let them know that it wasn't what he was wanting. Speaking of the brother, I still haven't heard word one from him and fine, the feeling is mutual, bud.
Still wondering why I'm not a huge mess yet. Dad is doing ok too and I've been keeping his spirits up though he's obviously not sleeping the best and I don't think it's sunk in completely for him either. His brother is still hanging on when on Sunday, it was supposed to be a matter of any day.
Probably going to go back to work in the morning. Hopefully people aren't too weird but I'm sure they will be. Most days aside from Elaine, I don't see nor talk to anyone on most days since I'm typically busy in my office. I'm sure I'm going to get visitors now, though. ugh.
Right now there's a beer bread that I added Italian herbs, garlic powder and a little crumbled cheese in the oven. Smells delicious. I'm going to share some with Emily and bring some to work.
