We had FREE bad coffee, got to sit packed like sardines on uncomfortable metal folding chairs and listen to meaningless speeches from the Important People followed by an overpriced "expert" lecture on workplace stress or such like for 8 hours. Also we were given a FREE lunch of sandwiches, soda, and cookies catered by the lowest bidder with no vegetarian choices because only 34% of staff needed vegetarian/vegan/kosher/halal. One memorable year the director just went to Sam's Club and provided make-your own sandwiches of Wonder Bread, plain bologna, American cheese, some margarine and French's mustard plus past-sale-by-date Hawaiian Punch. Definitely let us know how much we were appreciated.
