missdiane: (Kitty Chinese food)

My apartment runs their heat very high but it has its limits. Since it's dipping down to the low teens with wind chills near 0F, it's getting cooler inside. Last night I made homemade pizza (turned out eh) but this morning I made a frittata with baby broccoli, baby spinach, green onion and cojita cheese

It went from 68 in the living room to 72. Sweet. Still 66 in the bedroom but there's now sun coming in so the kitties are basking in the light. I'm going to try to come close to vegan in January to test the plant based diet theory helping health but I'm sure I'll still indulge now and then since it's my preferred breakfast food. Packing eggs chock full of veggies like this is a good method to make them good and healthy.

NYC was ok but SO freaking crowded yesterday. Clearly going the week between Xmas and New Years is not a good idea. We had to wait in a 35ish minute line outside in the frigid temperatures just to get into the Met Museum yesterday but since we already spent $21 on train tickets, we were getting in, darnit. It was so busy that all three of their cafes/cafeterias ran out and had to close before 2pm! Crazy!

My back survived the trip ok but all that standing and walking made it ache. Sleep was choppy as it has been but it's improving. Maybe I can get to the gym tomorrow.

Bonus! We were lazy as hell last night and ordered in Greek :> My guy finished his plate, of course, but I'll eat three more times off mine lmao

It's very groovy that you're doing the almost vegan thing. But if you haven't already try a tofu scramble at least once. I used to make em all the time and you can add anything you'd put in an egg dish. Except for eggs.

I've pondered the tofu scramble but I like tofu good and firm. I could see myself making crisped-up tofu sandwiches for breakfast and put peppers and stuff on them.

I have eggs to use up and once those are done and I finish the two vegetarian breakfast burritos in my freezer, I'll try not to buy more. I also have shrimp and some salmon patties in there which can wait until February to be eaten - in moderation. I'd like to keep transitioning but I also don't want to waste food. I figure it's disrespectful to buy it and then throw it away.

The harder struggle is cream in the coffee. I keep trying all the substitutes and I just don't like any of them. I think the easier thing may be to try to switch to tea more.
