SERIOUSLY PEOPLE!??!

missdianeSo I did my 20 minute supermarket sweep at Trader Joe's, stopped and topped off the gas tank and drove home...or TRIED to. They've started on my road a day early! Cones blocking things and they also graded ALL of the side streets so if you park on the street (many homes don't have driveways), you're screwed and can't park within blocks of your house.
I sat behind a police suv for about five minutes while the giant trucks tore up my street and waved desperately toward my apartment. He saw when it was mostly clear and waved me to take my little old car across the slalom of torn up streets to the half block to pull into my apartment parking lot.
But thank goodness Highland Park cops are pretty awesome and my car is parked, my groceries are inside, it's not too horribly hot yet (it will be later today) and I am hunkered down for the foreseeable future, yo.
