I might be courting drama, but...
Sep. 15th, 2022 10:47 amI need to get my car's State inspection done. I've never actually waited in the line at the State DMV to do it and this year, I'm leery of doing that because I was supposed to get it done last month and with JonJon and all, it just didn't happen. Some mechanics can do it but the one I took it to last time doesn't do them anymore.
So I've decided to take it to the mechanic that I went to for many years when I first moved to NJ twenty years ago. It's not that far away and he runs a good business that treats folks fairly but the issue is more personal. He's very friendly and when my parents came to visit and we got their car serviced while here, he made a point to ask about them. I moved to Highland Park which is several miles north and so I didn't stop for gas or get my car serviced so much. I found out that he actually dated than married someone that I used to bellydance with. Small world!
I was invited to their house once for a cookout and another gal I used to dance with (even more drama) and her husband were also guests. All well and good. Followed all of them on FB but didn't see folks socially that much but were still friendly. Then his wife threw him a HUGE party at one of those Elks or something halls and there were tons of pictures posted, including the mutual friends and...
...I wasn't invited. That hurt. So I just quietly unfollowed the lot of them and from what I can remember, I got a halfhearted "huh?" kind of response but faded away.
But anyway, back to the present. I need my car serviced and honestly, I don't give two shits about past drama. However, if he asks, I won't hesitate to matter-of-factly let him know why I stepped away. Either I wasn't one of your upper tier of the first few hundred friends to be invited or my usual issue of being perpetually single (how very Bridget Jones of me) made me stand out as it can tend to do sometimes. Either way, at most I'm a friendly acquaintance at most and I've accepted that.

Date: 2022-09-15 04:21 pm (UTC)Belly Dance? I took a couple classes but had to stop when I had my TKR for my right knee.
Being perpetually single seems to be a problem for OTHERS.
