JonJon's thyroid is back down to normal. His kidneys are "high normal" but they don't seem to be worried since that seems to be his baseline and he's not having other issues. So I'm canceling the late October appointment and will get him a checkup in the recommended 6-ish months unless something comes up.

I also found a well-reviewed chicken-flavored joint supplement to mix in the food for both kitties. Now that they're over 10 years old, it couldn't hurt to supplement both of them to keep them both active.
