So a few weeks ago, the nephew, who had moved out to an apartment in I think Dallas (he doesn't really communicate with his aunt or the rest of the family), had to suddenly move back in with the brother and SIL because he couldn't eat and was having severe issues. They diagnosed him with crohn's and he had a surgery. Must have been minor since they released him quickly. His sister has been texting me all worried because being a high strung young teen to find out that she might also have it since it's genetic is causing her extra anxiety.

Then the other day I heard through my parents the (somewhat garbled due to Dad's progressing memory and cognition issues), that the nephew was being "rushed" to surgery again. I was concerned when I didn't hear much back though texting with the niece, she's having some pain and also being taken to the doctor. But they haven't found anything wrong with her as of yet. My suspicion with her is that it's either long Covid issues or mostly anxiety manifesting itself into pain.

Anyway, I had to keep poking to find out that he didn't have surgery that day and instead had a procedure at 3pm yesterday when again, must have been minor since she thinks they were sending him home right after? Either that or Texas hospitals are not admitting patients with serious issues.

Hopefully I'll get some actual news soon.

Sorry to hear this! Sure hope that a) the medical issues are not quite as serious as it sounds and can be easily resolved with minor surgery and/or dietary changes and b) that somebody actually communicates with you soon.

I see from another post that he's recovering and hopefully finding the right things to eat. It is tough to stick to a specific diet, but the rewards should be worth it, especially for him.

Maybe one of the surgeries or procedures was a colonoscopy? I think that is a standard part of the diagnosis. Not surgery, but a third hand report could turn it into that. They do kick people out fast these days. Total hip replacements on an outpatient basis are being tried in some major hospitals, so who knows?

Anyway, I hope he is feeling better soon.
