Crossing fingers for good blood results
May. 19th, 2023 12:55 pmI thought I was screwed about 9:20 when the kitties were ON to me and zipped to hide under the bed when I was moving carriers around. Luckily for me, JuneBug's desire for treats outweighed her sensibilities about being afraid of the carrier and I was able to nab and stuff at about 9:45 to the sounds of sad, sad betrayal. lol
Had a major UGH moment when I got to the vet since they were repaving the side street next to the lot and right as they came out to retrieve us, tons and tons of crud were being blown around. The construction guys were trying to get the attention of the vet tech to talk to him but I zoomed to the door to get us out of the nasty air.
As my two tend to be, Junie was a good girl for her exam. We did blood tests, urine tests, X-rays and I brought them the double-bagged poop they requested. The vet said her lungs actually sounded good, didn't hear the heart murmur she can have sometimes, but she did have some sensitivity around her kidney areas and she lost two pounds. She was a bit hefty for her frame at 12 pounds before but that was a bit quick to lose. It's been a rough season for allergies as I'm sure y'all already know.
The X-ray came out with just mild asthma showing which is good. She's hoping the blood work is ok and will let me know when that comes back. She's thinking the episodes that are happening are reverse sneezing so allergic congestion since she's also regular sneezing too. Right now the recommendation is OTC antihistamines if she's still having the issues and keeping an eye on her weight to make sure she doesn't keep losing weight.
Thankfully Junie's been eating better this week and as long as my joints and back are up to it, there will be some deep spring cleaning done. Dusting, more vacuuming, the works. Also, yesterday I'd ordered a new air cleaner anyway so if I like it, I'll get another one for the other main room.
She was able to get her rabies shot and fingers crossed that everything else is minor for my senior girl. I also found it hilarious that when we got home, SHE was the one doing the hissing rather than the boy. It was like she was saying "I'm sure this is YOUR FAULT somehow!"

Date: 2023-05-20 12:51 pm (UTC)I give my little greedy-guts a couple treats inside his carrier every morning after breakfast and his pill. He goes in for the treat, I pat or push gently on his rump while he is scarfing them down. (He thinks I'm some kind of perv, but, hey, treats.) The vet knows I need appointments when they open in the morning and they usually schedule him for surgery day when they can deal with him while the first patient is being checked in and prepped. So vet days are the same as every day except that I shove harder and slam the door. He is wary the next couple days, but TREATS.
Don't know if that would work for two and it costs a bit in treats, but saves a lot of pain and bloodshed.
Managed to gently steer baby bird outside onto the grass. He was really tired, so I'm afraid he isn't going to make it, but I think it was his best chance.
