Tribute to the sassy old broad

Aside from work things, I haven't written anything in ages and obviously an obituary is difficult. But I wanted to get a bit of fun in there since Mom would have appreciated it.

It's posted and I think I did ok enough here.

I intentionally left out that her favorite Cheap Trick song was "Gonna Raise Hell" since that may have been a bit much.

Sis and BIL facetimed me from the funeral home since they were wondering about an urn. They were expensive but no more expensive than others I saw online and they were springing for it. There were some shiny ones and then we spotted one that made us all laugh and we HAD to get it. It looks like an upright wooden barrel. The reason why that's funny is because there's this pretty hideous coffee table we grew up with that moved with them to the apartment, the top of it having the sharpest corners that we all smacked a leg into at one point. The bottom of it looked like two half wooden barrels with a big ugly black metal band around them. Yeah, we HAD to get that urn.

Writing an obituary is incredibly hard - how do you condense someone's LIFE into a few short paragraphs?

I think you did a great job - you painted a picture of your mom in a few broad strokes - those of us who didn't know her, get a peek into her personality, and those who did know her, will recognize the woman they knew, in what you wrote.

That urn sounds perfect - if it makes you laugh, and reminds you of your childhood - that is awesome.

Thanks. I was talking to Dad about the urn last night and why we picked it and he had said he liked it before and then he was amused when finding out why.

Great job with the obit. You look a lot like your mom (she was obviously young in that photo; you don't look old.)

Mom was about 10 years older than I am now in the photo. I'm hoping my sister can find a photo in with my parents collection to send to me when clearing their place. We did one of those photo booth things at Dave and Busters where one person goes in and takes their picture and then the other and they combine them to see what their kid would look like. When my parents did it, it was an exact copy of me. My sister looks even more like my mom
