Sis and BIL are even worse. So Dad said the churching was "fine" but I guess the post-church lunch isn't a thing now since they just brought him back and thankfully he managed to make in time for lunch at the facility. But he'd told her he was hoping for some fresh groceries (usually things like bananas, a few lunchables, hummus snack packs, OJ).

She texted me because I guess she didn't like that I mailed him a box with coffee, dry creamer, biscotti and some trail mix (which thank goodness I did when he was in COVID lockdown so he'd have some treats). She'd told him that she was going to pick up some things for him but I guess she decided to play a power trip there and texted me that he needs to ask for snacks from the facility. What a bitch.

If she keeps up this nonsense, he intends to tell them that he's not going to go to church with them. I mean they abandoned the parents at the apartment they made them move to upon threat of never visiting them again, what's the difference now?

Sis is soooooooo busy building her new and larger house that she doesn't need anyway. I'm sure she'll want to come collect him in May or whenever it's done to show it off.

It is so hard being the sibling/child that is far away. You are stuck because they are behaving abominably, but if you call your sister out, she will play the "I'm the only one here, and it all falls on my shoulders" card. (Not true, but there are things that obviously work easier for the person who is local)

My mom had to bite her tongue so much about how her younger sister treated their mom - because she kept reminding herself "I'm not there" - but that was in the days before the internet and you have more options to make things happen from far away.

Also, it sounds like your dad is still able to make his wishes known and won't let them steamroll him - my grandmother was always "I don't want to be a burden" and never complained about anything.

He's trying to keep the peace but they're definitely starting to tick him off with these shenanigans. Jeebus would be SO proud of them.
