missdiane: (Junie and Bunny)
JuneBug gets spring allergies, so it's not uncommon to deal with fussy appetite, sneezing, etc. But more and more she's had this weird fast wheeze kind of thing and it's happening too often for comfort. So I called the vet on Wednesday and they're able to fit her in at 10am this morning.

Because the timing is always like this, my back had been mildly acting up before this and started acting up more overnight Wednesday. I took off work yesterday to rest as much as possible. Oh and my upper trapezius is all nicely spasmed up too. Greeeat. Hopefully cat wrangling and carrier hefting up and down stairs doesn't put everything out completely.

I'm hoping the fact that it's Friday helps some that they figure out what's going on with her, that it's easily treatable and we have the weekend to chill out and wait for the usual hissing and such to play out.

I thought I was screwed about 9:20 when the kitties were ON to me and zipped to hide under the bed when I was moving carriers around. Luckily for me, JuneBug's desire for treats outweighed her sensibilities about being afraid of the carrier and I was able to nab and stuff at about 9:45 to the sounds of sad, sad betrayal. lol

Had a major UGH moment when I got to the vet since they were repaving the side street next to the lot and right as they came out to retrieve us, tons and tons of crud were being blown around. The construction guys were trying to get the attention of the vet tech to talk to him but I zoomed to the door to get us out of the nasty air.

As my two tend to be, Junie was a good girl for her exam. We did blood tests, urine tests, X-rays and I brought them the double-bagged poop they requested. The vet said her lungs actually sounded good, didn't hear the heart murmur she can have sometimes, but she did have some sensitivity around her kidney areas and she lost two pounds. She was a bit hefty for her frame at 12 pounds before but that was a bit quick to lose. It's been a rough season for allergies as I'm sure y'all already know.

The X-ray came out with just mild asthma showing which is good. She's hoping the blood work is ok and will let me know when that comes back. She's thinking the episodes that are happening are reverse sneezing so allergic congestion since she's also regular sneezing too. Right now the recommendation is OTC antihistamines if she's still having the issues and keeping an eye on her weight to make sure she doesn't keep losing weight.

Thankfully Junie's been eating better this week and as long as my joints and back are up to it, there will be some deep spring cleaning done. Dusting, more vacuuming, the works. Also, yesterday I'd ordered a new air cleaner anyway so if I like it, I'll get another one for the other main room.

She was able to get her rabies shot and fingers crossed that everything else is minor for my senior girl. I also found it hilarious that when we got home, SHE was the one doing the hissing rather than the boy. It was like she was saying "I'm sure this is YOUR FAULT somehow!"
