Getting ooooold
25 May 2024 18:08Thanks for the birthday messages! I had some birthday cake flavored pretzel sticks. Heh.
I know I'm out of shape but DANG am I old and decrepit. Just walking the two blocks down 14th St from 6th to Union Square Park was rough. Granted, those who've been know that NYC street blocks are long but I should've been able to do better than I did. I had my left knee taped for stability but it started having little shooting pains about halfway there so I had to slow down.
It was so great to see
veganhothead and the weather was nice, if a big warm for my tastes. I know NYC is always expensive but it seemed excessively so today. Tompkins Square Bagels had good bagels but if we're paying nearly $20 for a bagel sandwich, it should actually have the fancy smoked salmon you requested in it. Nope, just the upgraded tofu scallion cream cheese and tomatoes, no protein. If it wasn't a trudge back and a crowded place, I'd have taken it back but lesson learned not to bother with them. If I'm really feeling the urge for a NYC bagel, I'll get one unadorned and take it home. I wanted to possibly get some good bread at the greenmarket that I'd always wanted to check out in the park but things were way too expensive there too for food.
We did stop by Lush and got some goodies which was nice. I'll be washing off the city grime with some fancy lemon soap shortly.
Since it was Memorial Day weekend and since NJ Transit has been having issues, we tried driving to Jersey City and taking the PATH. On the way there, traffic was pretty light and we arrived earlier than we'd expected. However on the way back we were on the Turnpike briefly before we went back to Route 1 and both ways were stop and go.
I arrived back more than an hour past the regular first dinner for kitties (oh noes! lol). They were kitty stomping around while I got their food down and both of them hoovered it down. I usually feed them at 3pm and then again at 5pm (small meals due to JonJon's scarf n barf tendencies) and since it was nearly 4:20 for the first meal, I thought that I'd feed them again around 6 or so. Oh no that was NOT acceptable. At 5pm on the dot, Miss JuneBug came and YELLED in my face that I was to get things back on schedule, thankyouverymuch.
I am surprised that I got a happy birthday text from my brother. Interesting...
