missdiane: (Junie and Bunny)
I thought about doing the Friday Five but alas, the questions made me depressed so I'll be skipping that this week.

As far as the Junie update, nothing on the biopsy but I don't expect that until next week sometime. No vomiting since before the second trip to the vet and I hope that sticks. She still had diarrhea yesterday and I had that as-needed antibiotic that tastes awful for kitties but unfortunately it needed to be taken with food and by yesterday afternoon, she was looking kind of sad and wouldn't eat though I could tell she wanted to. I put just a tiny dot of the Mirataz which was all we needed to get FOOD NOW reaction. She ate a decent meal and then DRAMA when a little bit after she was NOT happy about being wrangled for the meds. That girl can CLENCH her jaw too. Damn. I didn't even know if I got any in her before she sprung free and hid for a while. Welp, chances are that I was successful as the diarrhea has stopped (knock wood there too). In fact I was getting a little concerned since she wasn't doing anything in the box except pee.

Both kitties made sure that I got very little sleep overnight as they did tag-team action wanting food constantly. I kept spacing it out with small portions so that we wouldn't go overboard and end up with vomiting. I was pondering doing a sneaky WFH in the morning because Fridays are dead in the building but I needed to get away from the girl for a while so that she'd rest and not keep asking for food/treats. I did keep an eye on them with the two home cameras I have and both of them pretty much dozed and groomed for the four-ish hours.

I got home and still no poos in the box but as expected, FOOD NOW was demanded. I split a small portion between them and then the girl went to the box and had to strain a bit but thankfully a formed poo. It was somewhat pale which means food is still going through her too quickly but we're making progress. Right after that she wanted food AGAIN and I made her wait a half an hour which she was not a pleased princess.

So getting there. Hopefully better sleep for the hooman mom tonight.

I feel like I just threw thousands of dollars down the drain. The biopsy came back showing lymph node inflammation which isn't all that conclusive. It's either IBD OR I can spend yet another $900 to have them analyze even more to find out maybe, possibly if it's cancer. I told them no. Oh but steroids will buy a year but kitty chemo on top of it might buy you two IF that's what it is. Jesus. ENOUGH. I don't know why I had them do more scans since it was going to be steroids anyway but they acted as if they couldn't move forward without doing tests.

I'll follow up with my vet and see about whether they can prescribe steroids or whether I'm going to have to bring her in to them to have them make that determination instead of relying on the emergency vet's tests and assessments (because they all want the $$).

I keep getting emails to rate them. I'm going to keep deleting them since sure, they helped her in the moment but good GRIEF it was clear they were all about keeping your pet longer and running more tests if you're ok to pay for all of it and more and more.
