Mini adventures

The BFF and I went for a little fall drive before the last of the leaves dropped. Last weekend would've probably been the better one for colors but it wasn't bad. We first stopped down near Kingston near the Millstone River/D&R Canal. A few cell pics:

We then wandered south through Princeton and after getting detoured all around someplace called Mercer Meadows, we finally ended up at Terhune Orchards where we visited the farm store and bought apples and other treats and walked around the grounds petting and feeding goats and before we left, visited their Winery. I tried a nice sweet white which I bought a bottle. It was especially nice because it wasn't TOO nice and Emily liked it too. Spikes, you'll have to let me know if you'd like a bottle! Pics from there - including a couple of their kitties

Upon recommendation of the woman at the winery, we drove further South - nearly to Pennsylvania and stopped at a big farmers market. It was too bad that there was a very rude man but other than that, it was a pretty nice market. We then drove back north, stopping at the PA Dutch Market we've been many times and I bought some items at the smoked meat and the cheese places.
We were craving some good food and were going to get fried or roasted chicken somewhere, but the diner we intended to go to was WAY too busy but then Emily had the idea to try the new fancy burger place in our town. It was YUMMY and I'll have to give it a nice review on Yelp so it sticks around! It wasn't a crazy adventure but it was a nice one.

And free wine is the best wine.

Date: 8 Nov 2015 22:40 (UTC)That's an interesting observation. It makes one wonder how it happened since places like Asia have such different looking trees. I can understand how it can happen nowadays with plant varieties being flown over but these trees have been in that forest a LONG time.
Speaking of trees brought over, my boss and his researchers have figured out how to grow chestnuts in New Jersey and the people from Ferrero Rocher are talking about contracts!
