Admittedly, what I wear can be more than a little boring. Most of the time I'll wear something like cotton knit elastic-waist pants and a cotton knit top or I'll wear a basic a-line dress (mostly in cotton but some of the new rayon blends are awfully comfy). I generally wear flats, mary janes or lace up shoes. Coworker Elaine - who I like but she can irritate me sometime too - joked recently that I dress like a librarian. Not that I mind looking like a librarian, but it wasn't meant as a compliment. It was "you look frumpy." I did get some compliments the other day for wearing a printed dress and some low heels at least.
I have been getting bored...with absolutely everything but that's a story for a different day...with my attire. However I know I'm just not the type to wear a power suit or even something like blouses and dress pants. Also, I really don't really meet with big whigs or need to "dress up" much at all. Most of my work life is spent tippity-typing at my desk at a college campus. So I'm changing things up a bit. I do have some things in my closets I haven't worn in a while and I've also worked some sales to get some items. It's probably one of those things where I'll be thought of not "dressing my age" but I honestly don't give much of a shit if others like it. Today's ensemble:

Sorry for the fuzziness, the phone was being a wuss today. Yep, it's an outfit all from Torrid of a black tunic top with a "raw edge" hem, leggings with a pattern that matches my Harry Potter Deathly Hallows necklace and combat boots. Guess what? Several compliments today. Hell, even Business Moron asked if I was going out on a date or something. This 180 is considered somehow fancy? I'm still not even wearing any makeup. Uh...ok.
I'm not doing this for anyone else's approval but my own, but it's nice that I didn't get laughed at or anything. Then again, Elaine's on vacation this week. Not that I'll give two shits if she laughs.
