Well today was kind of a bummer but more for some other folks. The power was fluctuating starting yesterday but our building didn't happen to be affected. I was out this morning with an appointment then got the hair trimmed but I saw on social media that the power problem was more widespread. I got a text from Joe at work that power was out but by the time I saw it, it was a couple hours later. I texted him back and he let me know that it came back on just shortly before I texted but that they weren't confident that it would stay on.
I went in anyway since I did have some folks to hunt down and talk to. I wasn't there even an hour and *PLOINK* off goes the power again. So yay that we got dismissed early but a big ol' BOO because today was supposed to be a massive Staff/Faculty Appreciation Day that they're doing in stages around the University to celebrate the 250th anniversary and they had to cancel it. There was supposed to be treats like ice cream and funnel cakes and games and prizes. Aw man!
However I felt especially bad for our gal Anna who was supposed to run a table to talk about the plant breeders and had even made some candied cranberries and was even taking apart tons of peppers for something else. She didn't wear gloves and the poor thing's hands were still burning. Then they canceled the whole thing.
I texted Elaine a little bit ago that if we have power tomorrow and if Anna's in, we should treat her to Vietnamese food since she went to all that trouble for nothing.
Even worse is an email went out that they'll have to transport about 3,000 students to someplace overnight while they try to figure out what the problem is with the power. Ouch. It wouldn't be so bad but naturally it cracked 90 degrees today.

But evidently the silly thing was cleaning all kinds of hot peppers - including habaneros with no gloves on and her hands were still burning yesterday.
