The "friend" felt inspired to respond to my one non-silly posts on FB today. This is after I noticed that he was turning his anger on his FB up to eleven with an attitude of OBAMA SUCKS (now that he supports HC) and more shock articles about refugees, Soros, rioting, etc. I, however, was saddened by the protest news I saw and also worried because my friend - and friend of some others here and on FB actually works in downtown Charlotte. So I posted this:

After his rantathons on his own page (hell no I don't post aaany responses to his stuff, I don't acknowledge it whatsoever), he decided to weigh in. Yes, I blanked out his last name because I'm not an asshole.

Im calling a big ol' BULLSHIT that he was just curiously wondering and wanting to engage in civil discourse. Not after the insanity he was posting about on his page. He was picking a fight, no doubt in my mind whatsoever and I am not engaging with him.

I meant that goodbye. He's unfriended and he and his wife are blocked. Hopefully I don't have to block him from my phone and personal email. If he sends absolutely anything disrespectful to my work email, it will be forwarded to his boss. I'm not going to be harassed. It's sad, but I feel the need to protect myself here.

Some people can't be pacified no matter what you say or post. I've run across so many argumentative people lately. It's just emotionally draining. Not engaging is the best choice because you know he's just spoiling for a fight.

I was going to reply to him to try one last ditch effort to talk sense but then it's like the air went out of the balloon when I realized it would do absolutely no good. He did this to himself.

People are sometimes idiots.  Myself included. >.<'
That being said, however, I think you did the right thing in blocking him, and have a good plan if he takes the situation to work.

We're all idiots sometimes, myself definitely included. But I try hard not to go raging into other people's turf. This one was the straw - I'm calling for calm, expressing concern for friends and all he can focus on is that I actually DARE side with BLM. So sad.
