My great grandmother Rhea Horton (nee McCullough) 1890-1972

I found this picture on Ancestry last night from an old Indiana school yearbook. What was even more fun to see is that on the same page was my 2nd great aunt who isn't Rhea's sister but instead Rhea's husband's sister. So clearly the ladies knew each other before Rhea married Howard Henry Horton.
Here's Olive Amy Horton. Early on, she swapped her first and middle names and always went by Amy Olive Horton (1892-) She married a travelling salesman and fellow entertainer, Maurice Paul Fitzpatrick, but I can't seem to find anything about when she died yet.

The funny thing is that I'd never seen a close of picture of her but the little hula girl on my dashboard is named Olive for her and she part of the first groups that went to entertain the troops overseas during WWI. Emily thinks I look like her I also love the blurb about her in the yearbook:
"Amy Olive Horton - Language and Science Course, Debating Club.
All is attention when Amy is called on to recite, for her recitations are as spicy and amusing as anything ever published in the joke column
"

Ah, a fellow sassypants! No wonder I felt an affinity for great great aunty Amy!

Then later on findagrave.com, I found a picture of Amy's sister, Agnes Victoria Horton (1889-1950)

My cousin on FB who knows a lot of the family history from that side isn't sure but she thinks that she may be the one that was an actress. Earlier that evening, Dad told me that one of the girls was a friend of actress Fay Bainter.

So cool stuff found last night!

Oh, as an update, so far *knock wood* the penicillin seems to be helping. My tooth is still a bit sore but I'll keep taking the pills regularly and hopefully it gets rid of the infection. The bigger surprise is that the temperature sensitivity seems to be gone. Considering that I've had that problem for a LONG time, it makes me wonder if I've been sick for longer than I realize. If so, it might take longer than expected to get better.

I'm glad to hear the antibiotic is working to relieve the infection and pain.

It's always interesting to go back and look at the family pictures.

Thanks! The infection is trying to fight back since I do get aches but I'm hoping the antibiotic wins.

It is fun finding ones that I'd never seen! My icon is actually my second great aunt and uncle, the Aerial Macs. Last night I found a WWI draft card for the uncle, Howard McCullough, which indicated he was a circus performer for Ringling Brothers.

I should do more on my ancesters research.
Although I can go back to the time before Napoleon with many of my brances I have none later 1670th. There are some barrierers.
The WWs exp second destroyed so many archives and not all can be found on familysearch, esp my grandmothers mother. She was born in Lötzen Ostpreussen in 1895 but the churchbooks are gone. I have ony a birthcertificate done when my grandmother wanted to get married, they needed it to verify that both, my grandfather and my grandmother where true "arisch".
The next problem is the time before 1890th. Before that there was no public registry, only churchbooks. And if you came back to 1650th the next big seizure. The great religeous war. Before that, the common people often had no surnames and if, they could change from one generation to the next and you can be lucky to find any. It was often not that common people where not noted in churchbooks.

I am lucky on my father's side that they are in America very far back and the records are well-kept for the most part.

I have a problem similar to you on my Mother's side. Her grandmother is from Czechoslovakia and I can't find anything about her before she arrived in the US in the early 1900s. She also has German relatives but I have the same problem finding out anything before they arrived.

I hope you can find some information! Have you tried a DNA test to see where you might be from? It's fun!

Very cool! I have a copy of my family tree on my dad's side but other than that, my ancestors are a mystery.

Glad you're starting to feel better.

Makes me wish I'd have paid for the ancestry.com international! I love helping people with finding details about their tree.

Thanks - I hope I only have to go through one round of meds. I've a feeling I've been battling this longer than the symptoms have been obvious
