JuneBug appeared to have a seizure. :Before it happened, she was trying to vomit but only a little foam came up and then before she could duck under the couch, she collapsed on her side between a table and couch and seemed only semi-conscious. She came out of it less than a minute later and went under the couch where she was awake but wide-eyed.

She seems fine, if a little shell shocked now. This hasn't ever happened before that I know of so I've made an appointment to get her checked out this Thursday, though if it happens again I'll have to find a 24hr vet.

What did you find out about JuneBug? Poor baby, and poor you! It is scary.

Miss Prissy has had something similar for a few years now and I am still not used to it. She jerks about and foams at the mouth while trying to throw up, and throwing up foam or food if she's eaten a short time before. The vet said they were strokes from what we described and he examined her but found nothing off. She precedes the events w. a growling, meowing, and stiffening of her body. This is why I thought Miss Prissy was in her last days a few months ago, she'd had a bad spell and was out of sorts and not herself, wanting to go hide. Bc of her advanced age, the vet has not pressed to do a lot of tests and we've not wanted to put her through it as she hates the cat carrier and riding in the car so much we're afraid she'd have a stroke before we could get her to the vet.

I think having a vet look her over is a darned good idea!

Thanks. She's about due for shots so if she's ok otherwise, I'll get those done to save another trip later

She seemed to bounce back fine and is chilling next to me. The only other thing she did is about half an hour ago, she did a mini-gag but she was also grooming.

I'm wondering if it wasn't a seizure but if she fainted? She was trying to vomit for a while and maybe it made her lightheaded. I don't know what caused the sudden urge to vomit, though. The whole thing was weird.

It's possible she was trying to pass a nasty hair ball. Sometimes that will make Pip gag and cough up something foamy and he'll feel not quite his peppy self for a little while.

Keep an eye on her but I'm glad to hear she's doing okay.

a seizure generally is associated with jerking movements especially of limbs and head, with jaw opening wide and then clamping tightly, and this may last for some seconds or even minutes. The body usually goes completely limp when the seizure is over, and the animal may then slowly recover normal movement and consciousness. What you describe does seem more like a brief loss of consciousness due to gagging/choking. We will hope that is the case.

I hope you're right. Though I'm baffled at what precipitated the choking.
