A few pictures from Saturday. There would have been more if I wasn't so busy talking veganhothead's ear off.

Hanging out in front of Beyond Sushi since I'm a chronic early bird.

I forgot to get pictures of the dumplings and bao that were our shared appetizers since we both were SO hungry. The rolls pictured here are these:
Spicy Jackfruit Crab: White rice, lettuce, spicy jackfruit crab, pickled red onions, marinated carrots, avocado, chili strands, ponzu, toasted cayenne sauce
I hadn't been all that impressed with jackfruit in the past but I really loved how this was ground so tiny and did a good job of mimicking the texture of sushi crab. Since I'm into making sushi/kimbap lately, I'm definitely going to get some unripe jackfruit and pulverize it in my mini food processor to see if I can get the same effect
Smoky Dragon: Smoke oyster mushrooms, avocado, cilantro, charred eggplant unagi, seaweed roe, ponzu glaze
SO delicious. This one I'll leave to the experts. The little roe balls popped in your mouth which was so cool and the smoked mushroom on top was amazing.
Considering the insane price of groceries, especially in NYC, the prices were impressively low, I thought. If I'm ever in the city again by myself or with someone that is ok eating vegan, I'll absolutely go here again.

My adorable companion who was very gracious to deal with my babblemouth lol
After eating, we wandered back up 7th Ave and went to Weed World, where we had to show ID to get in even though we are old ladeez. It was pretty overwhelming to me since I haven't tried this stuff. Fortunately I had an expert with me who picked us out some gummies. ;) I did half of one on Saturday night and hoo boy did it knock me out. Though I woke up Sunday and was surprised not to be sore so if this stuff works, especially for my back, I'm talking to the doc about getting a prescription (not that you need one in NJ anymore but it's just easier).
Even though I was a nervous wreck and had aches beforehand, I'm so very glad that I made it in and got to meet up with someone I've sorely missed.

Date: 12 Jan 2023 13:53 (UTC)It said on the teeny tiny text to take half a dose which is half a gummy so that's what I did. It also said it can take a while to kick in - also true. But when it did, I was sleepy and fuzzy. I did the other half gummy a couple of days later and wasn't quite as fuzzy but at the same time, I didn't have a full day's adrenaline as well as on Saturday morning I was feeling panicky so I took the last half Xanax I had so I'm betting I had some rebound effect on that.
I might try a full gummy maybe Friday or Saturday night to see how that goes. I think that it relaxes me enough that I sleep better and in turn, the aches have time to subside.
OH!! and one thing that no one tells you. THC has a bitter aftertaste. I was worried that something was wrong but looked it up and nope, it's normal. It bums me out that people can't sell pot brownies in NJ since I can see what that's a better mechanism since "bittersweet" works well with chocolate.
