So the ultrasound didn't show anything too particularly off, aside from having a little bit of a sludgy gallbladder. Though considering she must have been battling an infection for a while, that is about expected and the antibiotic shot she got earlier in the week should start helping to clear that out.
It makes logical sense that she probably vomited on Tuesday due to having her little system full of GUNK and then stopped eating after getting the antibiotic shot since things were draining from her head (still only one small sneeze since getting the shot and no reverse sneezes- hope that sticks). That and gallbladder pain and then constipation would make anyone leery of food.
We decided yesterday just to go with another round of subQ fluids and also a kitty enema. They also gave me some of that gel that you apply on the inside of their ears to stimulate appetite. I'll have to make sure I have some gloves if I need to use it.
I didn't realize that she was drunker than a skunk until I opened the carrier and she hopped out and wobbled around and scared the bejeezus out of me by trying to hop up on higher surfaces. She wasn't even hissing at the boy which I think freaked him out even more. That was funny watching this bigger cat make a wide berth around the petite girl.
She was eager to eat (yay for pain meds!) so I fed the both of them and then she used the boxes several times (twice to pee and once with a small very mushy yellow poo). When picking her up, we talked about if she didn't poo, to bring her in today for another round of the enema since they're not open the two days after that. While I would like her to do some more in the box, the amount she did should suffice for now so that I don't have to stress her any further with another vet trip. Both kitties will continue to get regular small doses of Miralax in their food. I do wish I could figure out which food or treat must be causing both of them the constipation issues.
A couple of hours later - that passed incredibly quickly - she only ate about half the amount she usually would of that meal (they get small wet food meals mostly because the boy is a scarf and barfer). Considering that she barely touched food for days, that was perfectly adequate. She also had a few of her favorite freeze dried treats in between.
Anyway, thank goodness she finally started to settle in her kitty bed around 7 because my back was DONE and I needed to lie down right away. I did have the Nest camera set up in that room from watching her from work the other day so I turned it on so I could check her from my phone app. She wasn't interested in the meal they get several hours later so clearly the meds had worn off. However, she has eaten some after that and even asked for more tube treat. So while she certainly needs to put some weight back on, she'll get there.
Now if we can just poo in the box, I'll know we're back on track.

Date: 28 May 2023 13:47 (UTC)Not sure it is relevant, but my almost 11-year-old guy has switched from a daily poop to every other day for no obvious reason. He is getting his laxative paste twice a week and seems happy with his usual vociferous appetite. I'll ask the vet when we go for his annual exam next month, but I think his metabolism may just be slowing down.

Date: 28 May 2023 14:17 (UTC)It's odd that both cats suddenly developed constipation issues at the same time. I've heard about other folks and I wonder what the cause is.
