So I just went outside to take a litterbox to the dumpster and walked around the buildings to get to the mailboxes. Normally I'd just walk straight down the sidewalk back to the other entrance to my apartment, but they've never put anything down after digging up the sidewalk to replace sewer lines (like they couldn't get some cheap stones from a garden center for a stopgap?) and with all the recent rain, it's a bunch of mud.

So I had to walk back around the buildings and through the parking lot to get to my apartment and as I was going up the stairs, I heard back in the distance an electric saw. I looked back to see the maintenance dude - the one that couldn't be bothered to change a damned battery in the smoke alarm in the hall and the reason my kitchen sink is held together with duct tape - having to use a jigsaw on the frame of my old couch so he can put it in the dumpster.

I'm not concerned about any fees or anything for the disposal since I'm sure he hasn't any idea which apartment the couch came from. My La-Z-Boy delivery came in the early evening when it was dark and his apartment is at the other end of the row of buildings.

If he wasn't such a slack ass, I may have offered to help lift and heft the whole thing into the dumpster like some people have done but yeah, he doesn't deserve the help.

Even if he was the nicest guy around, how would lifting half the couch, throwing your back out even more, and making him carry you up to your apartment have helped? Don't even think about lifting stuff like that! Let him play with his power tools.

Well if he cut it up, it wouldn't be heavy, just awkward for one person to lift. But he's even more of an idiot than I thought. When I went to take a bag of trash this morning, he got it sawed in half but evidently still can't put it in the dumpster (ha!). But the doofus didn't even pull off the couch cover which comes right off.

Dude is on his own.
