Quick update

Well, no one ate the cookies but they did have some of the drinks and I think the effort was appreciated.

I did ok but it was odd since three of the people didn't speak English so the fourth translated (so I had to force myself to speak slowly) and when our professor came, he also translated. I was proud of myself for recognizing the word "book" in Russian, though. lol

To solve the mystery of how I was suggested, originally Elaine was slated to talk to them so I'm guessing the faculty guy who I've met with before was the one that thought I'd be a good substitution. I'm sure Bosslady didn't say diddly.

Hopefully the group found their visit valuable and has a good time on the trip.

I knew you'd do great! And now you have some nice cookies to take home, or drop off at Elaine's. (Since a lot of Kazakhs are Muslim, maybe the were afraid the cookies contained lard, but I'm sure they appreciated the gesture.)

Ah I wish they would have asked since the ingredients were listed on the packaging and I'm pretty sure the orange/sesame ones are actually not just vegetarian but vegan since they're made with olive oil instead of butter.

I left the cookies out for my coworkers. I'm hoping there's some of the orange sesame ones when I go in tomorrow (took today as a sneaky WFH today since not surprisingly, my back was very stiff last night). I hadn't tried those cookies before and I had one when I got home and I really like that they're not very sweet.
