Going to cling to the positives

Just talked to Dad - thankfully they called me since I was having trouble calling him earlier - probably since he's not familiar there yet. He's actually sounding clearer than he has in a while which was good. I didn't go into detail much about the real reason why he's there but I did tell him that his blood tests were really off (very true, Sis texted me that his BUN was suddenly at 40 which is really bad and they said they'd keep a close eye on it) and that the facility wanted Sis to take him to people that are more of the experts to get him better checked out.

Fingers crossed that they get him in better shape mentally and physically. He does have his coloring with him which he's already impressed folks with his talents there. I feel better that he's not just angry or super sad and that he continues in a decent mood.

I also got a text after I got off the phone with him from my pharmacy that they have meds filled. No actual message from my doctor but whatever, drugs are good, mmmkay? Going to go get them now.

I'm trying not to get too hopeful but I'm at least a bit less guilty feeling.

The guilt just means you're a good daughter - part and parcel of being far away and not able to Fix Things.

Take care of yourself and give yourself grace - you are doing the best you can in a difficult situation - aging parents is *so* hard!

I'm really glad you were finally able to talk to your father, and that he sounded better than you expected. I hope he gets a thorough physical checkup as well as meds for the mental issues.
