OOO! I didn't know there was a developer tab available for Word and that you had to unhide it! Now the Word-based forms have REAL check marks!!

*slinks away all red-faced at the dorkery*

Well if it makes you feel better, I'm glad it sounded dorky enough to confuse someone ;)

I have a form in MS Word format that people fill out and way back when, I just put in little pretty useless squares next to the "yes" and "no" to choose from since most people printed the form out and physically wrote in check marks.

When someone sent me their form and had typed "x" around the boxes, it was confusing because I wasn't sure whether the x was closer to the "yes" or "no" option.

So I knew it was time to fix the form and I went a'googling and found out how to replace the useless little squares with boxes that when you click on them, it puts in the "X" automatically. That tab titled "developer" is hidden and you have to unhide it to be able to create the other boxes, among other things that I haven't figured out what other fancy things I can do. Ooo - looks like I can make drop down choosey boxes too! NEAT!

I knew how to make these fancy forms in the professional version of PDF but that's a whole different dorktastic story of why PDF forms work for some people and not others.

I'm hoping maybe someday I can get someone to work with me to make them website-based forms where people can fill it in on a website and click a button and it gives them a pretty PDF all nicely filled in to send me - or something that it emails me automatically. I'm not website-making-savvy.

You are a woman of many talents. I am not that learned on computers. LJ, maybe, but not computers. This is why I surround myself with smart and capable folks!

You think you're a dork?

I read this entry and began to sing "this little light of mine" without even thinking.

Hide it under a buschel, NO! I'm gonna let it shine!"

so just an hour ago, an MD I work with told me there is a "compare documents" command in Word that will point out changes between versions of the same document. and all these years I did side-by-side but used my poor little eyes to do the comparing. Talk about red-faced....

Compare documents is not one of the usual ones you'd use unless you KNEW it was there but thankfully Veri turned me on to that one.

Betcha Veri already knew about the check boxes...

Bwahaha! It's amazing what wonderful tools are tucked away in Office. I teach MS Office to adults and I'm often finding new tricks and tools, too. Kudos to you for tracking down the developer tab.

Cool!!!

I'm going to need to seriously brush up on my MS Access skills to make my reclassification easier to deal with. I've taken classes but unless you use it and make queries a lot, it seems to seep right out of your brain

Those Microsoft people are sneaky, aren't they?
