Damn these kitties are spendy

Junie's vet visit done (they didn't do shots which I thought was odd but probably because she's got the poo issues so another time *shrug*) They'll be testing the poo I brought (always fun, eh?) and the little porker gained a POUND AND A HALF over the year and now tips the scales at a little over 10 pounds. I also paid through the nose for the vet price of the FortiFlora to try. If it works, I told them I'd like a script so I can order it with my food order from chewy.com. They were fine with that. They also gave me a couple of free cans of Royal Canin Gastrointestinal food. I don't intend to bother with the food unless the FortiFlora doesn't do the trick on her normal food. She's picky as hell and I doubt she'll like the prescription stuff. That and to be honest, I buy better quality food than that stuff. But my vet isn't cheap and it was about $140. Ouch.

Had dentist cleaning at noon where the chick was pretty much the Nurse Ratched of hygienists. No bedside manner at all and I know it had to be the one that the gal that recommended the dentist HATES. Meh, whatever. I'm not cowed when they try to give you shit about OMG! You're gonna DIE if you don't floss ALL THE TIME. My troublesome sinus-aggravated tooth was achy when I left but it seems to be mostly better now so I'll try to stop worrying about it unless it starts to act up more. If it does, well, guess it'll be a stupid root canal.

I have to wrangle JonJon in about an hour for his yearly vet visit. Because I know they'll want to check both kitties, yeah, have more poo to gift them. If JonJon also put on weight, I'm going to be a much tougher mom and they'll get MUCH less snacktime. 

So though it's a full day of those annoying kind of appointments and wrangling, I'm glad I had it all set up for today since it sounds like tomorrow is going to SUCK with up to 6-10 inches of snow forecast. Since I don't want to get even further behind at work since I took today off, I emailed Bossman and he's cool with me working from home tomorrow. I can read and edit the online reports (have a little over fifty of them left) from home fine in between snow shoveling sessions.

I totally get the expensive vet bill. I just spent $140 because one of my sweeties had serious diarrhea. It would've been $200 more if I'd let him do X-rays for an obstruction. I mean, just give me the medicine first, okay? Heavy sigh.

Just tossed down $180 for JonJon for regular check up, shots and a just-in-case poo check. Sheesh!

JuneBug is being an ass and hissing at him when he didn't hiss at her earlier. Bad girl! But on the bright side, JuneBug seems to LOVE the FortiFlora stuff on top of her food. She NOM NOM NOMed it down in no time flat!

The poo "present" for the vet is always a joy to carry around, isn't it?

I had one cat who made this unnecessary. Tedi-Bastet would come out of the carrier willingly and settle down calmly on the exam table after a bit of exploring. But as soon as the vet walked into the room, Tedi would look him straight in the eye and poo on the exam table. Vet thought it was a "social comment". For some reason the vet really loved that cat.

I got him but BOY was it an event. The minute I stood up to ponder going over to get him to put in the carrier he RAN into the bedroom and under the bed. Then when I finally got him out from under the bed, he claw-scrambled his way over me and I had to quickly nab him before he got away. Likely due to today's storm, it was SO busy at the vet so it was a busy wait but he got in, got a clean bill of health (he actually lost a little weight?) and got his shots.

JuneBug has hissed and swatted at him which I've told her I'm disappointed since he didn't hiss at her. But it's improving.

So far so good on the FortiFlora. Latest poo this morning was normal (if stinky still) and she absolutely LOVES the stuff on top of her food

I think putting a cat in a carrier should be an Olympic sport. It has running, climbing, lifting, jumping, crawling, and frequently bloodshed [mine] and pooping on the floor [cat].

So spendy.. I gotta take my kids to the vet as soon as the weather is less dangerous. Junie's not that big. Maggie was ten pounds at her healthiest and she was a delicate little muffin.

I think before this, Junie's highest weight was a little over 9 pounds. She's a dinky little thing.

Strangely, though, JonJon actually lost a third of a pound since his last visit and she certainly doesn't get any more food than him. Must be a female thing. She doesn't seem fat, though. She's just getting solid. Considering how she runs around and jumps on the tree, she must be building muscle. lol
